About This AttractionSuggest an Edit
Set over three floors this state-of-the-art gallery space showcases 2000 years of heritage and displays contemporary artworks - sharing local and national treasures with all visitors. We promise regularly changing exhibitions and cutting-edge art installations - for a fresh experience, every time you visit. Explore the fascinating history of the building. Set in the old Town Hall, that has been restored for the enjoyment of future generations, this historical space contains the Octagonal Courtroom and subterranean cells. Soak up the atmosphere in these unique spaces and learn more about how they were used, including dramatic stories of law and order in the district. The cells where defendants were once held lead up directly to the dock in the courtroom. Experience what it may have felt like to stand as the accused or oversea the court proceedings from the Judge's chair.
