As part of a great day out on Holy Island, which is reached by a causeway at low tide, visit these rambling ruins in the peaceful and beautiful area. Originally the home to the Lindisfarne Gospels and the site of grisly Viking attacks and was an important centre of early Christianity. Today the whole family can explore the ruins with all the nooks and crannies, you can enjoy the ornate carvings and beautiful views. There is a museum that explores the story of St Cuthbert and the 1300 year history of Lindisfarne Priory.
