About This AttractionSuggest an Edit

Founded in 1018 but dissolved by Henry VIII in the sixteenth century, Buckfast Abbey was restored by four inexperienced monks in 1907. The church was built on the old foundations, using local blue limestone and Ham Hill stone. There are several medieval monastic buildings including the fourteenth century guest hall, containing an exhibition of the Abbey's history.
