For a great day outdoors with the family bring them here for a walk through the beautiful countryside to the ruins of this magnificent castle with stunning views over the surrounding Peak District. The castle is one of England's earliest Norman fortresses and the keep that remains was built by Henry II in 1176, today you can still see some of the original walls and also a medieval lavatory.
