About This AttractionSuggest an Edit

Founded in 1861 the factory produced writing slates, today they now make architectural, memorial, craft and landscape items from Welsh slate. Take a self guided tour where there is an introductory video and personal taped commentary. There are exhibitions on geological, historical, calligraphy and letter cutting and you can try your hand at calligraphy and engrave a piece of slate that you can keep. There is a quiz that children can complete and win a prize.

How To Get There

Directions

Inigo Jones Slate Works is on the main A487, 6 miles south of Caernarfon on the way to Porthmadog. Access is easy from a newly constructed roundabout and the works is very well sign posted in advance. For Sat Nav, use postcode LL54 7UE and within 1/2 mile, at roundabout, look for the special white-on-brown signs.
