About This AttractionSuggest an Edit

As the largest Roman home in Britain, Fishbourne Roman Palace consists of the remains of the building discovered 1960 by mistake during the digging of a water main trench. Nine seasons of excavations slowly showed how the site had developed from a military base (AD43) to a Palace by the end of the first century. You can see Britain's largest collection of in-situ Roman floor mosaics. The museum gallery boasts an array of everyday Roman objects which were found in the excavation.
