About This AttractionSuggest an Edit

Bring the family here to step back in time to the 1770's in William Wordsworth's family home. The house is set up as a family home with costumed servants, and offers the opportunity to see, smell, hear, touch and even taste what it was like to live in the late 18th Century. There are lots of activities with a daily ten-minute talk, poetry readings and children's trail. The kids will love writing with a quill and even dressing up in the period costumes.

Tips

Entrance is free if you are a NT members. The kids had a great time making animals out of pastry in the kitchen, then looking for the hidden crocheted bugs in the garden, and little wooden animals were hidden throughout the house. Lots of interactive things to do, the kids were given quiz sheets and a free packet of radish seeds to take home and plant! Well worth a visit if you are in Cockermouth.
