This house is the birthplace of museum of Thomas Carlyle, the great Scottish social historian and one of Britain’s most influential writers and thinkers. The house has been virtually untouched since it was first opened in 1881, there are many of his belongings. Bring the older children here to see history lessons brought to life as you can see how people use to live in a small Scottish village in the early 19th Century.
