About This AttractionSuggest an Edit

Castle Drogo combines the grandeur of a medieval castle with the contrasting comfort of the twentieth century. This granite castle is surrounded by a terraced formal garden, woodland spring garden, huge circular croquet lawn and colourful herbaceous borders. It stands overlooking the wooded gorge of the River Teign, at a position of over 900ft high up, and offers striking views of Dartmoor, along with beautiful walks. Castle Drogo was the last castle to be built in England, and probably the last private house in the country to be built entirely of granite.
