Bring the family here for a great day outdoors. Gibside is Georgian 'grand design' on a spectacular scale and was the brainchild of George Bowes. Discover the Derwent Valley by walking one of the many paths through the open spaces, buildings and ruins. There are over 15 miles of footpaths, which you can discover by yourself or take one of the guided tours. Find the hides to spot wildlife, take on the fun ropes challenge or the children can let of some steam in the Strawberry Castle adventure play area.

How To Get There

Directions

From Gateshead take the A694 heading southwest. When you reach Rowlands Gill take a right onto Burnopfield Road, then take the net left and the attraction should be on your right.

Tips

We went on Easter Saturday to do the egg trail with my two daughters (4&6) we had a great time and after the trail we went for a walk up to the monument through the woods then lunch at the cafe while the kids played at the park! Lots to do and plenty of exercise and fresh air!
