The fort was built 2000 years ago to house a Roman Garrison guarding the nearby bridge across the river, walk through the officers quarters, the baths and steam room and imagine what life must have been like in the Empires northern outpost. There is an amazing array of artefact's that were discovered whilst excavating this part of Hadrian's Wall that you can look at.
