This stunning castle is built on a rocky islet the kids will love the adventure of getting there, as in low tide you can cross using the causeway, otherwise if the tide is high you can catch a ferry. The castle is a great place to explore the history of Jersey, the castle was first built in the 1590's and has played an important role including when the future King Charles II sought refuge at Elizabeth Castle during the English Civil War. During the Second World War and the German Occupation the castle was refortified. Explore all of the turrets, battlements and bunkers and learn about the castle in Jersey’s history and share the experiences of the soldiers who were garrisoned there.
