About This AttractionSuggest an Edit
Haunting ruins on the edge of a cliff are a brilliant place to bring the family to have a picnic and to explore. The castle overlooks the Essex marshes and was originally built in about 1215 by Hubert de Burgh, but extensively refortified by Edward III during the Hundred Years War.

Lovely day out. Nice place for a walk, picnic or to just chill out. Beautiful views. Lots of climbing for the children and space for them to run around and play.
