Pistyll Rhaeadr is an enchanting waterfall in the Berwyn Mountains, just inside Wales. It is the highest waterfall in the UK as the water plummets 240ft from top to bottom. With many visitors returning again and again it is one of the most loved pieces of nature you could set your eyes on. It is sure to give you and your family a peaceful and tranquil day out.

Somewhere To Eat?

The cafe is located at the Tan-y-Pistyll (little house under the waterfall). It sells a selection of food and drink. This is open 10:00 - 16:00 (winter) 9:30- 18:00 (summer)

Where Shall I Park?

The road ends in the waterfall car park, for which there is a £2 charge. There is a free car park by the river, 250 yards before you reach Pistyll Rhaeadr

How To Get There

Directions

Travelling north on the A5 west of Telford. Turn left onto B4396 at Nesscliffe, and then go through Knockin. At the junction of the main A483 road from Welshpool to Oswestry, cross-straight over (staggered junction) at the White Lion Pub at Llynclys. Continue on the B4396 into Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant (approx. 25 minutes). Travelling south on the A5. Turn off the A5 at Oswestry by-pass onto the A483, signposted Welshpool. After 3 miles, south of Oswestry, turn right at Llyclys crossroads - the White Lion pub is on your right. Continue on the B4396 into Llanrhaeadr (approx. 25 mins). In Llanrhaeadr, drive through the main square past the Wynstay Arms, and turn right into Waterfall Street just before Greatorex, the corner shop. The waterfall is signposted above the shop. Continue along Waterfall Street for four miles until the road ends at the waterfall. The road ends in the waterfalls car park, for which there is a £2 charge. There is a free car park by the river, 250 yards before you reach Pistyll Rhaeadr. Please be careful and drive slowly along the single-track road from Llanrhaeadr to the falls - it's a small Welsh country lane.
