About This AttractionSuggest an Edit

Home to the world famous Greenwich Mean Time and the Prime Meridian of the world. There is also London's only planetarium, the Harrison timekeepers and the UK's largest refracting telescope. The observatory was founded by King Charles II in 1675. The observatory has fascinating collections of timekeeping instruments including the laser which marks the Prime Meridian for aircraft at night. Watch spectacular shows in the planetarium and don't forget to get the family to stand either side of the Meridian line which represents Longitude 0º and divides eastern and western hemispheres!
