About This AttractionSuggest an Edit
Novelist Charles Dickens lived at 48 Daughty Street between 1837-1839. Some of his best known work was written here, including Nicholas Nickleby and the delightful Oliver Twist. After two of his daughters were born there, Dickens decided he needed more space for his growing family and they moved in 1839. The museum was opened in 1925 and has been delighting visitors ever since. It is now home to a fantastic Dicken's related collection of over 100,000 items including manuscripts, rare editions, personal items paintings and lots more!
