The Postal Museum

The Postal Museum promises a fun-filled and educational day out for the whole family. Descend underground on an exciting and educational 15-minute journey into the former engineering depot of Mail Rail, the one-hundred-year-old post office railway onboard a miniature train into the original tunnels. Learn about the people who worked on it and their lives below ground for up to 22 hours per day. Families can learn more about the story of the postal railway and see what it took to keep the network running on the interactive exhibition based in the abandoned engineering depot. Discover the original trains that powered mail underneath London for over 80 years and learn about the engineering behind these fascinating loco-motives. Fancy a challenge? Children can take on the task of racing against the clock to sort the mail.. on a moving travelling post office! *Be sure to check out the ‘Jolly Postman Trail‘ – perfect for Toddlers and young children! Children aged 8 and under will love exploring this immersive mini-town complete with streets, buildings, slides and chutes! Dress up in multiple uniforms, weigh stamp and sort parcels and letters in the post office or even deliver mail around town in the mail van. There is even a dedicated space for crawlers too! There is so much role-play fun to be had for the little ones, they certainly won’t be bored. The play area is also available for private hire too!
