About This AttractionSuggest an Edit
Home to the oldest working steam engines in the world, this is a fabulous place to bring your little ones. One of the two beam engines is 200 years old and they are both fed by a coal-fired Lancashire Boiler. The grounds overlook the Kennet 7 Avon Canal and make a perfect sport for a picnic.

Just lovely. Totally original and unspoiled, great walks to be had along the canal with working locks nearby. Probably not suitable for toddlers or buggies but nice to see somewhere that has not been turned into a large commercial venture.

We took our family there this Bank Holiday(August) and we were very disappointed! We have two children aged 3 and nineteen months and the facilities for buggies are non existent, it is not toddler friendly at all! There are mountains of stairs to climb to clamber over hot engines with just a sign telling you to watch your children. The cafe is very cramped and the staff manning the cafe are quite unfriendly and very unhelpful. The Kennet and Avon Canal is within touching distance and again there is no toddler safety. All this combined with a car park that you have to pay and display, even in their overflow - a farmer's field - you have to pay and display, combined with entry fees. Not recommended at all.
