These tranquil ruins is a fantastic place to bring the family for a few hours; set in beautiful landscape you can learn all about the ruins fascinating history. The monastery was founded here in 680 by King Merewalh of Mercia, whose abbess daughter Milburge was hailed as a saint. Today you can explore parts of the church and the adjoining cloister garth is a most unusual monks' washing fountain, and also the chapter house. There is also the beautiful grounds that has plenty to explore including the unusual topiary bushes. Make sure that you grab one of the audio tours as you make your way around and there are activity sheets for the children to complete.
