Once home to the poet Lord Byron, Newstead Abbey is now a must see medieval attraction. Take a look throughout history and what it must of been like to live in the 12th and 13th century. Visit the Byron Collection where you find furniture that was once the belongings of Byron himself such as his giltwood bed, his very own pistol and even his desk where he wrote many of his poems. Take a walk throughout the many gardens that surround the Abbey, such as the Rose and the French gardens that a filled with wonderful flowers.

Directions

Newstead Abbey is located 12 miles north of Nottingham on the A60 and is also close to Junction 27 of the M1. If coming from the M1, follow the signs for Sherwood Forest until you see the brown signs for the Abbey.
