The museum allows you to step back in time to explore the North East of England in Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian times. Walk through the Pit Village and learn about how it was to live in a mine village, see the Railway station where there might be a steam train or two, then go to the town and ride or a tram, then pay a visit to the feared dentist and learn some gruesome tales of dentists in Edwardian times.

Its an amazing day out for the whole family. Loads to do and see and it's wonderful to see the staff and volunteers in period dress. We've been up for the winter wonderland also saw Santa It's just on our doorstep. I've been numerous times with my hubby and two boys.

Great day out something for everyone I made fact finding sheets for my two daughters they found it fun asking questions and joining in with activity's .
