About This AttractionSuggest an Edit

Tiverton Castle is a fun place for children to visit. It was originally built in 1106, enlarged and altered down the ages, and was once home of Princess Katherine Plantagenet, niece of the King in the Car Park. It was besieged during the English Civil War by General Sir Thomas Fairfax and fell to him after a lucky shot hit the drawbridge chain. This was the only time in its long history that it saw battle. It is now a peaceful private house with splendid gardens and a fine Civil War armoury, some pieces of which can be tried on. There are medieval loos (once cleaned out by children), secret passages, ghost stories, as well as interesting furniture and pictures.
