This fantastic industrial heritage site shows how a complete industrial community lived. You can visit a cotton mill which is powered by Europe's most powerful working waterwheel. Learn all about the cotton industry from the Medieval times through to the 19th century. The whole family will enjoy the guided tour of the Apprentice House, which house the pauper children and you can learn all about their living and working conditions and there are gorgeous gardens that you can look at.

Lovely place, free entry for NT members. We had a great time learning all about the mill, then had a nice walk around the gardens and grounds. Lovely cafe selling good quality food, and a gift and plant shop. A great afternoon out!
