About This AttractionSuggest an Edit

Need a great place to have a picnic and with lots to explore? then bring them to the ruins of this abbey which was founded in 1246 in Gloucestershire by the Earl of Cornwall in thanks for surviving a shipwreck. It was once thought to have housed ‘the Holy Blood of Hailes’ – allegedly a phial of Christ’s own blood. Now there are the haunting ruins remaining and is a serene spot for the family to enjoy a picnic, learn some history and to play. Pick up one of the audio tours and visit the museum to learn all about how the monks lived, ate and slept.
